More than a simple brandy and cola concoction, the Cuba Libre is a marriage of the robust Mansion House French Brandy with sweet cola and the tart lime. Originating from Cuba during the free-Cuba movement that started just after the Spanish-American War, the Cuba Libre is a rallying cry towards honing and adapting your free spirit.

Cocktail ingredients

  • 60ml Mansion House French Brandy
  • 120ml cola
  • Lime
  • Ice cubes

Step 1

Build

Squeeze a lime into a Collins or a highball glass.

Step 2

Muddle

Drop half of the spent lime shell into the glass and muddle.

Step 3

Pour

Add ice and brandy and gently top with cola.

Step4

Serve

Stir with a cocktail stirrer and serve.

Place lemon and mint into a cocktail shaker and muddle (gently mash) it a few times.

Shake

Add whiskey and maple syrup or simple syrup. Add ice and shake until cold.

Step3

Strain

Strain into a glass.

Step4

Garnish

If you’d like, add a splash of soda water (this rounds out the flavors). Serve with crushed ice.
